CAN Sunday Cup Rules
1. The teams will be "drafted" by the two captains after designating players in one of 4 categories - Batsman, Bowler, All-rounder, Wicket-keeper.
2. The draft will be evenly done such that each team has an identical number of Batsmen, Bowlers, All-Rounders and Wicket-keepers.
3. The game will be played over 16 overs. Depending upon player availability the games will either be 6-a-side or 8-a-side.
4. White balls shall be used for the tournament. Teams will play in Black Pants and a team colored T-shirt. No white clothes allowed.
5. Bowlers have to bowl a minimum of 2 overs per bowler. Any player designated a bowler/all-rounder will HAVE to bowl at least two overs.
6. Players designated frontline bowlers will not bowl more than 2 overs in a match.
7. Batsmen will bat in designated pairs and shall bat for 4 complete overs. Batsmen will alternately face the first ball of the over. So, for example, Batsman A will always face the first ball of Over 1 and 3, while Batsman 2 will always face the first ball of Overs 2 and 4. This is to ensure that both batsmen get a chance to bat for sure.
8. Even if a batsman gets out, he continues to bat until his quota of 4 overs is used up. However, each dismissal shall result in the deduction of 5 runs from the team total.
9. Games are expected to be finished within 3 hours, from start to end. (To save time, if the game is played at Freedom Park, the half-mat shall be used. If at Levi Carter, the captains will decide whether to change ends or play from one).
10. Only one team will field at a time.
11. No boundaries will be marked. Batsmen have to run every run, up to a maximum of 6 runs. Any hits outside the fence at Freedom Park will be awarded 6 runs. (4 runs if it bounces before reaching fence).
12. Paper score cards must be maintained by both teams for all games.
13. A Free Hit will be awarded for any front foot no-ball. As per ICC rules, the field cannot change if the batsmen do not cross on the no-ball. The field can change if the batsmen cross on the no-ball.
14. No Power Plays will be used.
15. The Wicket-keeper can bowl, if required by captain.
16. No overthrows will be allowed off a direct hit on the wicket.
17. No overthrows will be allowed on deflections off the end of the pitch.
18. A ball pitching on the edge or outside the pitch is a wide ball with a maximum 1 run penalty. No extra runs can be taken.
19. All ICC rules will be followed where not overridden by the above rules.
